Jagodna Hostel, Spalona and the Jagodna Massif

SPALONA IS A VILLAGE LOCATED UNDER THE PASS OF THE SAME NAME. THE NAME OF THE PASS AND THE SPALONA VILLAGE MOST PROBABLY COMES FROM THE GREAT FIRE, WHICH IN 1473 FOR SIX WEEKS RAVAGED THE FORESTS OF THE BYSTRZYCKI MOUNTAINS.

The pass is a vast meadow with the highest peak of the Bystrzycki Mountains - Jagodna (977 m a.s.l.). Spalona is an important junction of tourist trails. From the "Sudety Highway" running through the Pass there is a beautiful panorama of the surrounding mountain ranges and villages situated in the valleys. In the village by the road, there is the Jagodna Hostel, built in 1895 in place of a roadside inn. Near the hostel there is a hill with a ski lift, a car park and cross-country ski trails with a lighted stadium. In 2019, a 21-metre high observation tower with a panorama terrace stood on top of Jagodna. On the slope of the mountain there is a 14-kilometre-long section of a single-track bicycle route.
